Please read these instructions and the renewal application form carefully as major changes in the Private Detective Licensing Act were made by the 1998 Kansas Legislature.

This 2 year renewal application must be completed in its entirety to renew your private detective agency license and must be accompanied by:

• The 2 year agency renewal fee in $175. Make money order, cashiers check or personal check payable to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
  
• Verification of a corporate surety bond in the amount of $100,000; a certificate of insurance showing general liability insurance which provides coverage in the amount of $100,000 for bodily injury or property damage caused by negligence and errors or omissions; or verification of $100,000 cash deposit with the State Treasurer
  

  Because your private detective agency license will be renewed for 2 years, the Attorney General no longer requires that you bond or insurance cover the entire licensure period.
  
  

• Completed private detective renewal applications for each employee and for each officer, director, partner or associate of the agency who engages in detective business. You may send one money order, cashiers check or personal check to cover all fees.

Due to the time required for processing renewal applications, please submit your completed renewal application materials and fees as soon as possible in order to have your renewed private detective license in hand by the first of the year. In any event, renewal application materials and fees must be received by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation no later than December 31. Since the Private Detective Licensing Act foes not provide for a renewal 'grace period,' your private detective license will expire if you do not submit a completed renewal application in time. In that event you would need to submit and requalify for an initial private detective license.
